I have a little Gretsch Catalina kit(18" bass 12"&14" toms) in Kauai, Hawai'i and I have another Mapex Saturn Pro kit in KC, where I live.

I'm wondering what the best deal would be for taking stuff out to Australia? I'm leaving Jan 3rd - March 1st.. Kinda doing a church/ministry tour from Brisbane down to Sydney.

Btw, I'm flying United... if that helps.

Should I ship my Gretsch, ship my Mainland shells, bring them on the plane with me?, or do any of you have a kit that you wanna part with for 2 months? [img]tongue.gif[/img] Nah, highly unlikely, I know...

as a passenger, you are allowed up to 3 bags. You will be charged anything above that and be charged if it exceeds weight and size too.

Do you or anybody know what a 8" inside a 12" inside the 20"x16" bass, would cost to ship/fly with me?

Set all 3 on a scale, figure what size box they'd safely back in, do the same with you hardware, then check your airline's website and they should be able to give you more info. You can help cushion the stuff with underwear, socks, etc., and any other clothing you don't mind being wrinkled. Hopefully, they won't lose you luggage.

Try to get drums locally in Australia. Much easier. Bring your own snare, cymbals and pedals if you're picky.

I agree with DSOP. It would probably be compareable to rent as it would be to ship both ways.

Since you're doing ministry work, try contacting some of the larger, local churches.

I just remembered that a local pastor with one of the larger Corona, California churches is from Australia. Barry Mcmurtrie is the pastor at Crossroads and I believe goes back to Australia a few times a year. You can reach them at (951) 737-4664. Give them a call there and maybe they would be able to help.

Hey, Could I have your name so I can refer some kind of connection when I call Barry Mcmurtrie?

As far as hardware goes, I'm gonna be able to use the basic Booms, snare, and Hihat while I'm there. I'm bringing some different clamps, pedal, snare, electronics, and cymbals.
